YES! - Online resumes are
very effective for a variety of reasons. Here are my thoughts
why, how and what you can do with your web resume to enhance
your job hunt:

 Can
it be complied from a previous
resume?
You bet. If you already have
a resume in another format (such as a Word doc file), it's
easy to complie a Magic Resule from that resume . If you don't
have a previous resume, no problem... just type in your
objective, your education background, your job experience, and
other relevant information (such as professional organizations
to which you belong, software you know, etc.). and send it to
us.
Can I link to other web pages from
my online resume?
Absolutely! Magic Resume supports hyperlinks to other web sites and pages. This
is handy because it allows your resume to reference web pages
that enhance your background and make it easier for the
potential employer to more fully appreciate your education and
job experience, and what you offer as an
employee.
Can I
e-mail my resume directly to an employer?
Yes, we can insert the HTML output from the
Magic Resume directly into to an HTML (Rich text) e-mail message,
along with any necessary graphics such as the e-mail
animation. We cannot insert background music though. Of course, the
receiver must be using an HTML compatible e-mail program...
but most do.
E-mailing your resume directly to a
potential employer allows you to customize your resume for the
exact position to which you are responding. Many popular
job-hunt books recommend customizing each resume you send.
Plus, e-mailing your customized resume allows you to insert a
short cover letter at the top. If everything works perfectly,
the cover grabs their attention, and the embedded HTML resume
hooks them.
How
unique can I make my resume?
There
are six styles available, and each style has anywhere from
four to seven different color schemes. You can also choose to
have an e-mail graphic included as well as background music if
you so wish. Between styles, colors, optional graphics, and
optional music, there are over 5,000 possible resume
combinations.

I preview my HTML resume before I publish it?
Sure... once
we have complied your Magic Resume with your resume
information, such as contact info, job history, education, and
so forth, it's very easy to try different resume styles and
color schemes. With the order, we can send you previews so
that you can see
exactly what your online resume will look like, and how it
will sound (if you chose a background tune) before you publish
it. It is also very easy to change your e-mail style, as well
as any resume information you entered.
Can I
have a text-only version also ?
You bet. Many web sites
prefer a text file resume. Magic Resume has a handy option
which will give you a formatted, easy-to-read text version of
your resume with all HTML tags stripped out... even embedded
tags which we may have inserted. The output text file is
called RESUME.TXT
If
I don't want background music, can I turn it off?
Yes indeed. You don't even need to ever turn it
on... its normal default state is off. However, if you do try
one of the 15 included tunes, you can turn off the
music.
Can I turn the pop-up interstitial on and
off?
Absolutely. The Pop-up On
Close window can be turned on or off by checking the
appropriate checkbox. If you use it, then decide you don't
want it, it can be removed in a snap.
Can I make my resume
private?
Pretty much. Check tell us to keep the
Search Bots Away and the Magic Resume will insert
the appropriate meta tag command that instructs search bots
not to index your resume or follow any of the links embedded
in it. This doesn't guarantee privacy but does keep your
resume from being indexed into popular search engines like
Yahoo and Google.
Can
I define keys so search bots index my resume the
way I want?
Affirmative. We can add
key words and short phrases that will help search bots cross
reference your resume. For instance, if you are a sales person
that specializes in online advertising sales, you might add
key words like: IQ, interactive advertising, online
advertising, advertising, banner sales, enliven, skyscraper,
buttons, sponsorships.
Can
it check my spelling?
Absolutely! Magic Resume includes a powerful
built-in spell checker.
With which versions of Windows does it
work?
Magic Resume has been tested
and works with Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 (Professional
and Server editions) and Windows XP. No version for Mac
or native Unix / Linux exists or is planned.
